Mustangs athletes finish third overall in classroom

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Every year the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) selects the top 10 schools in each size classification for the Academic Team Champion recognition program. This year LRHS was recognized as third in the state against all class 8A schools.

“The Academic Team Champion recognition program honors teamwork not only in competition, but in the classroom as well,” stated the FHSAA.

The LRHS boys weightlifting team topped their classification.  Among other Spring sports the Mustang track team placed second overall in 8A, baseball team placed fourth, softball eighth, boys track second and girls track tenth..

Since opening in August 1998, LRHS Mustangs have made their mark both academically and competitively.

LRHS offers 27 different sports with a total 42 varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams. In the 2018-19 school year, many teams won district and regional titles.

  • Girls Volleyball- first place
  • Boys Cross Country – third place
  • Girls Cross Country- fourth place
  • Boys Golf- tenth place

  • Boys Swimming- 24th place
  • Girls Swimming- tenth place
  • Boys Basketball- fourth place
  • Girls Basketball- 15th place
  • Boys Soccer- second place
  • Girls Soccer- eighth place
  • Girls Weightlifting- 12th place
  • Competitive Cheer- fourth place
  • Wrestling- fifth place
  • Baseball- fourth place
  • Flag Football- 17th place
  • Boys Lacrosse- 28th place
  • Girls Lacrosse- 28th place
  • Softball- eighth place
  • Boys Tennis- 26th place
  • Girls Tennis- 11th place
  • Boys Track- second place
  • Girls Track- 10th place
