Peter Fisichella – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – In the first week of May, the LRHS Parent Association (PA) hosted lunches in the teachers lounge to acknowledge the teachers’ and staffs’ hard work during the school year. They were treated to themed lunches every day, including Italian and tropical.
It was just one of the events the PA hosted to recognize the faculty and staff this school year. Members also hosted a Christmas breakfast, sold LRHS gear at football games and awarded two scholarships.
PA member Liz Fisichella said that the week of lunches was a big success.
“The teachers really enjoyed the work put into the different themes during different days,” she said. “We also received many compliments on how the food tasted every day. The gift baskets were a big hit and the teachers absolutely loved them. The decorations in the teachers’ lounge were also very nice and it was a good week.”
During these lunches the teachers entered raffles which awarded LRHS gear, gift cards and beach towels. This was another way of thanking the teachers for all their hard work during the school year.
Teachers had many positives things to say about the week of lunches and festivities.
LRHS science teacher Tana Phelps said, “I am so thankful to the parent association for providing us lunch for a whole week! Not only did they provide an amazing lunch daily, they decorated the room, so it was like a mini vacation during our lunch period. I am sure it was a sacrifice of time and money on their part and it was much appreciated.”
Fisichella said the PA is already preparing for 2019-20.
“Next year we look to make the process much smoother, and we will also look for more donations to give the teachers more prizes next year,” Fisichella says.
