(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS Silver Stars Dance Team has already been hard at work for the upcoming 2019-2020 season.

The team held auditions April 3-5 and now have a “Spirit Squad” consisting of 20 girls, and a competition team with 12 girls.

Incoming freshman Sarah Workman said,” I can’t wait for this season. The team seems so nice and welcoming. With my commitment and hard work, I feel that I will be a great asset to the team.”

The Silver Stars have already held their officer auditions and have chosen the leaders of the team for next year: Senior Brooke Martin as captain, senior Madison Cartano as co-captain, senior Hana Tomik as lieutenant, senior Toni Gulbrandsen as secretary, and senior Cibele Urbanski as well as junior Gigi Miles as spirit squad leaders.

“I am super excited for what this year will bring, and I am more than prepared to lead this team to victory throughout all of our competitions”, said Martin.

The Silver Stars raised around $500 at one of their  “can shakes” fundraisers on May 19 at Ace Hardware. The money will help pay for team gear, travel costs, and competition fees.

At this event, the team told customers that they would do push-ups for each dollar they raised. This certainly gave customers an urge to donate.

“I loved dancing and raising money at our first fundraiser. It was a blast and I can’t wait to do more this season”, exclaims incoming sophomore Caleigh Herman.

The dance team’s season is off to a great start with all the fun events they have planned for this year.
