(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS senior Matt Gelorme has been to State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota (SCF)  for baseball, changing his Mustang cheer to “Go Manatees!”

The SCF baseball coach offered Matt Gelorme eighty percent off his tuition to come play baseball for the Manatee’s.  Gelorme said, “I guess he liked what he saw.”

Once the offer was on the table it was up to Gelorme decide Florida State University or State college of Florida.

He was excited to accept SCF offer.

“It is close to home making it a big factor in my decision,” shared Gelorme.

Another deciding factor was talking to some of the players on the SCF baseball team. Gelorme learned that former players from the SCF team really enjoyed their experience.

Although FSU is a four-year, division one NCAA university, Gelorme is excited to start his journey playing for SCF. He knows there is more time to develop his game and gain more exposure to bigger schools.

“If I don’t try then I will never know how far I can go,” shared Gelorme.
