NEWS(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS band is preparing for an array of recitals this week to showcase their talents and skillsets, including jazz, percussion, and eurhythmics.

Jazz 1 and 2 will perform a concert at 7 p.m. May 8 in the auditorium to showcase their talents and skills. The night of jazz will feature performances such as “Got to Get You in My Life,” “Night in Tunisia,” and “Isfahan.”

Junior Sarah Huston, who will be playing at the concert on Wednesday, is very excited to perform.

“My favorite part of the concert is getting to play on the beautiful baby grand piano, because it’s so nice,” Huston said.

Following the Jazz recital will be the percussion and color guard recital at 7 p.m. on May 9 in the auditorium. Percussion will perform four pieces including front ensemble, quads, snares, and bass drums.

Senior Nick Josephson is very proud of his section because of their commitment to each piece.

“These pieces are fun, because they show how we can play different instruments and what we’ve been working on for a couple weeks,” Josephson explained.

Senior Mackenzie Brielmann is excited for the recital, but sad her LRHS years are coming to an end.

“The seniors get one last hoorah before we graduate and move on,” Brielmann said, “and I am glad we can do it along with all our band friends and family.”
