The pair were announced at the LRHS prom on April 5 at the Sarasota Hyatt.

The LRHS prom Queen was Jade Patterson and the LRHS prom King was Ryan Freeman.

Both were very excited to win and represent LRHS as King and Queen.

“I was having a great night already, so winning queen just added to it,” said Patterson. “One of my teachers told me that he nominated me for it, but I was shocked when my name was announced. In the end, I am grateful my classmates voted for me. It was definitely an experience I will never forget.”

Freeman said he was not shocked at when his name was announced. “I was not that surprised,” said Freeman. “A lot of people told me they voted for me, so I was pretty excited to win. It was fun having all of my friends there cheering for me.”

Patterson, who plans to attend the University of South Florida in the fall, explained how winning prom queen is beneficial.

“I plan on being in a sorority, so being named prom queen goes a long way when they look at your extracurricular activities.”

Freeman, who plans to attend the University of Florida, is also planning to join a fraternity, and knows being named prom king will help him get into a good one.
