(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Many LRHS students plan to continue their athletic careers into college this upcoming school year.

Senior Johnny Reid is going to be continuing his athletic career at Dartmouth College for cross-country and track.

“I’m really looking forward to starting a new adventure up north,” he said. “The weather is going to be different and so will a lot of other things. But I’m excited to run up north and meet new people.”

Committed to State College of Florida, senior Madison Kozcersut, will play softball. “I’m very excited to be continuing my softball career.

“I have never been good at handling my academics and athletics, so college and sports will be a tough one for me. I am excited to be getting out of my house and doing things on my own,” said Kozcersut.

Senior Grant McCray has committed to Florida State University for men’s baseball.

“I’m looking forward to the experiences in college and being able to represent the school’” he said. “Also, I’m excited to finally start playing college baseball. I’m really worried about living alone without my parents.”

Senior Drew Mitts, who will be continuing his football career at St. Olaf College, said, “I’m going to be really far away from home so I’m nervous to be on my own, but I’m really excited to meet new people and experience college.”

Senior Marissa Boccarosa has committed to Lynn University for women’s lacrosse.

“I’m excited to meet new people and to pursue my career in animation! I’m also excited to play college lacrosse. I’m nervous to be away from my friends and family and in a new area where I don’t know anyone,” she said.
