(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS Drama department will be produce “The Adventures of a Comic Book Artist” this month.  Performances will start at 7:30 p.m. on April 26.

The play is about a man who wants nothing more than to become a comic book artist.

LRHS Drama is putting a new twist on this classic show by making it a black out, a type of performance that involves interaction between the cast and the audience.

LRHS sophomore Julia Raymond said, “The audience gets to sit on the stage for a very personal and memorable experience,” said drama teacher Roxane Caravan.

Both the cast and crew put hard work and effort into this show. Preparation consisted of blocking, choreography, props, and lighting.

Caravan said, “They are a really awesome and hardworking group of kids”.

After sharing the show with the LRHS community the cast and crew will join the American High School Theater company to perform in Edinburg, Scotland.

All 15 cast and crew members will perform their play July 27 through Aug. 9.

Caravan said, “It’s an incredible opportunity, we are one of less than fifteen schools chosen across the U.S.”

Since the blackout is such an immersive and personal experience limited tickets will be sold. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26 and at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27.
