(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- As the regular baseball season comes to an end, the players are beginning to prepare themselves for post-season games.
This year the team has played very well with a record of 17-3. They still have five games left before they begin district playoffs.
Next week, the team has their annual series with rival school Braden River. The first game of the series, which is also senior night for the Mustangs, starts at 7 p.m. on April 30 and is at home.
The team then plays Braden River again at 7 p.m. on May 1 on the road. The last game of the series will be held at 7 p.m. on May 2 at the LRHS baseball field.
Sophomore John Schroeder said, “I’m most excited to hopefully sweep Braden River. The rivalry games are always the most fun because of all the fans that come out to watch us play.”
In two weeks, the team begins to compete for championships. They want a state championship and for seniors, it’s their last chance to make a run for it and they are all determined to make a statement.
Centerfielder and FSU commit Grant McCray, senior, said, “Being a senior just makes everything more important to me. I want it more than I have any other year and I want this team to make a mark on the school.”
