(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS senior Brieanna Andrews has won a $1000 scholarship from the Artists Guild of Anna Maria Island for her photography.

Andrews has taken LRHS photography classes since her freshman year and she is also in yearbook. Her teacher, Greg Klein informed her of the scholarship and encouraged her to apply for it.

Andrews said, “When I found out I won, I was totally shocked because I never thought that I would actually be chosen.”

Andrews began taking pictures as a child after she received a small blue camera with Disney princesses on it. She would run around and take pictures of everything, especially her family. Since then, her love for photography has only grown.

Andrews added, “It was great to win because it made me feel like all of my hard work and dedication had paid off. To me, it was a huge reinforcement to keep doing photography.”

Currently, Andrews prefers to take pictures of nature and people. Her biggest inspiration is National Geographic and she aspires to work for them one day after her college career.

In the fall Andrews will attend the University of Florida, where she plans to major in visual arts and business.
