The meet consisted of 15 teams from around the area, with 12 girls competing in the 1600-meter run, Ingallinera’s heat. The race was scheduled to start at 6 p.m. but  was delayed until 6:45 due to storms. Ingallinera ended up placing second with a time of 5:35, beating her original personal record by six seconds.

“I was really nervous coming into this race; I knew that I had to (get a personal record) PR before districts next weekend, so the pressure was on,” Ingallinera said.  “It was also nerve racking with the weather, I just wanted to get the race over with and the storm delays only made me more anxious.”

She added, “Luckily when the race finally started the storm was gone…I really couldn’t believe it when I saw my time, it felt like a whirlwind it was over so quickly.”
