(LAKEWOOD RANCH FL.)- The LRHS Mustangs are the nation’s number one high school softball team.  Since MaxPreps named the Mustangs number one on Apr. 14.

Extra Innings sand other news agencies have also moved LRHS up to the top spot.

Three wins later LRHS softball continues to prove themselves as the best team in the country.

Last Tuesday the Mustangs beat Academy at the Lakes at home by a score of 8-2.

Game highlights:

Avery Goelz: 2 for 3, 2 triples, 1 RBI

Emma Anthony: 1 for 1 , HR, RBI

Jillian Herbst: 1 for 2, double, RBI

Taylor Woodring: 1 for 2 , RBI

Maddie Schaefer: 1 for 1

Payton Kinney: 4-0; 3-hit, no runs, 5 KS, win.

 

On Wednesday the Mustangs traveled to Venice High School and won 3-0.

Game highlights:

Kayla Howald improved to 4-0 as she pitched a complete game NO-HITTER & shutout. Struck out 7.

Avery Goelz: 3 for 4, double.

Maddie Koczersut: 2 for 3, double, RBI.

Kali Reis: 1 for 2, HR, 2 RBI.

 

Thursday the Mustangs made the long trip to Palm Beach Wellington High School and won 4-3.

Game highlights:

Jillian Herbst: 2 for 3

Avery Goelz: double, RBI

Claire Davidson: double, RBI

Kelsey Vogel: 1 for 3, RBI

Brooklyn Lucero: 7-0; win pitching 4 and 1/3,3 hits,7Ks.

Claire Davidson pitched 2 1/3 allowing no hit and no runs for the save.

 

LRHS softball is now 21-0. This week’s schedule includes –

At 7 p.m. Tuesday there will be a home game against Hardee.

Senior Night starts at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at home against Polk County Lake Region.

Finally, at 7 p.m. on Friday there is a home game against Lakeland George Jenkins.
