Steven Bracco – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Now that the third quarter has come to an end, Florida State Assessments (FSA) and End of Course (EOC) exams will begin, and students will have to prepare for testing.
At LRHS the FSAs are organized by staff including assistant principal Valencia Lowen and testing coordinator Jeff Simmons. The group uses a master schedule to set up when the best test taking times are and what dates would work for students’ schedules and upcoming Advanced Placement (AP) tests.
Simmons said the hardest part of FSA test preparation is “getting 4,800 tests done in 20 days and finding enough free time to do so.”
FSA testing started with tenth grade reading/writing on April 1. Then U.S. History, as well as Biology and Geometry, will start on May 1, followed by the Algebra 1 test.
EOCs for juniors, sophomores, and freshman will take place during May, and seniors will take tests earlier depending on when they leave campus at the end of the year. Some seniors may be exempt from their final exams based on their third and fourth quarter grades.
