Mustangs ranked #2 in US softball

The LRHS softball team is enjoying a successful season.

(LAKEWOOD RANCH FL.)- Lakewood Ranch softball is officially half way through the regular season. The team remains undefeated and was ranked number two in the country by MaxPreps.

Tuesday the Mustangs defeated Sarasota Riverview 12-0 in a five-inning run rule. Junior Brooklyn Lucero got the win in the circle, pitching a no- hitter.

Mckenzie Clark, junior, was 2-3, 1 RBI; Kali Reis, junior, was 1-3 with a homerun; Claire Davidson, junior, was 1-3 with a homerun; junior Taylor Woodring was 1-1; Jillian Herbst, sophomore, was 1-3 with a triple; Avery Goelz, junior, was 2-3 with two doubles.

“I was very happy with my team’s performance tonight. My teammates did their job on defense and offense and that made it a lot easier for me in the circle.” said Lucero.

The next game for the Mustangs will be an away game at Charlotte high school.  The junior varsity begins at 5 p.m. with varsity following at 7.
