(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Tuesday the LRHS varsity baseball team defeated the Riverview Rams 13-0.

Senior Grant McCray led the team with 3 hits, while driving in 5 runs. Fellow senior Matt Gelorme threw five scoreless innings in the Mustangs victory.

“Last night’s game was a lot of fun,” said McCray.  “We came out swinging and did damage. If we hit like that every game, I do not think anyone will beat us.”

The Mustangs are 12-2 this season and have won three games in a row since their loss to Mariner High School.

Head coach Ryan Kennedy is impressed with the way his team has been playing. “We’ve been playing Mustang baseball,” stated Kennedy.  “We go out and give it our all, and I could not ask for more from these guys. You can tell everyone in the clubhouse has one goal in mind and that is to win a state championship.”

The Mustangs will be heading to IMG Academy tonight to face the Ascenders blue team. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
