(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS jazz band 1, color guard, and other band students excelled in the State Musical Performance Assessment (MPA) on March 20 and 22 at Seminole High School in Sanford, FL.

Jazz Band 2 received an Excellent rating on Wednesday, March 20. On Friday, March 22, band and color guard students brought home 61 Superior Medals, two Superior with Distinction Medals, and five Excellent ratings at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival.

Junior Matt Shelton was happy to perform with such a great group of people. “I think we did very well, even though we got an excellent,” Shelton said.

Junior Kenzie Beck was excited she earned a superior for her solo and winter guard pieces.

“At MPAs, you are simply against yourself, and knowing you got a superior for your own personal run is an amazing feeling,” Beck explained.

Junior Elise Sunderman was proud of her team and the work they put into each ensemble.

“I was in two groups, both which received Superiors,” Sunderman said, “and I think all of the months of work we put into these really paid off.”
