Meghan Llamas – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The 2018-2019 school year is quickly coming to an end. As seniors prepare to leave LRHS, middle schoolers around the county are preparing to step in as the new Mustang freshman class.
Eighth grader Landon Llamas, current Colt at Nolan Middle School, has already started preparing for LRHS.
“I’m going to miss the teachers and friends at Nolan, but I think I’m ready for Lakewood,” shared Llamas.
Students have turned to their deans and teachers for guidance and registration forms have been submitted. Llamas is excited to start high school, “I’m the most excited about having new classes and being able to make new friends.”
There has only been one open house so far for new students, letting them get a feel of the school.
Eighth grader Thomas McCue Jr. at Sarasota Military Academy Prep also prepares to join the Mustangs for his freshman year.
“I liked middle school, but I am really excited to finally come to high school,” he said, explaining his eagerness to come to LRHS.
While eighth graders prepare to finish the last of their middle school years, LRHS freshmen teachers prepare to welcome some new students to the school. When asked about the new class,
English teacher Michael Wood said he always looks forward to new students “because its job security,” he joked, “but yes I’m always excited to present new ideas to a new audience.”
Geography teacher Samantha Stoltz is also looking forward to the new school year.
“Freshman is my favorite year,” she said, “I like getting them excited and teaching them.”
