(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – With the NCAA men’s basketball regular season coming to an end, March Madness is upon us.

The three-week-long college basketball tournament is among the most exciting events in the sports world during March and April. Sixty-eight teams are chosen by a committee to face off in a single elimination tournament held around the country.

The NCAA men’s basketball division I tournament began Tuesday night with play-in games and will conclude after the championship final on Monday, April 8.

LRHS senior Alex Thompson said, “I think it is a lot of fun to watch the tournament, especially the first two days because there are chances for a lot of upsets. I enjoy talking with my friends about the different matchups before the tournament even starts so I can get some input and try to have the first ever perfect bracket.”

Senior Madi Grogan is a big fan of the tournament.

“I fill out a few brackets every year. I do not follow basketball, but I enjoy picking different schools. It’s a lot of fun because I usually do pretty good.”
