NEWS(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS winter guard competed at the Seminole High School Regional Competition Saturday.

Placing second overall with a score of 73.677, the winter guard is back to their normal placement in competitions. Junior Kenzie Horner was very excited for this change last weekend.

“In the past week, we have worked super hard and tried to make practice a more positive environment and it showed this weekend,” Horner said, “and we are going to continue practicing hard and having high expectations for the next two weeks to insure a good run at finals.”

The winter guard’s final competition will be held on March 30 at the Daytona Beach Ocean Center. Junior Cassidy Ditsworth is looking forward to the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC) Championships and performing in front of hundreds of people.

“I am looking forward to being with my friends, band family, and hopefully placing in the top three again like last year,” said Ditsworth.

The winter guard is hoping to top last year’s second place finish.

“Cleaning and tweaking every little part of the show will hopefully boost our chance of finishing first this year,” sophomore Carly Baker said, “and we are all hoping we can finish this season with a bang.”
