Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS ladies flag football is in full swing this season. The team expects to compete until the end of April with hopes of making it to states.

The Mustangs are divided into varsity and junior varsity (JV) teams. The girls practice every day after school. Both groups have their own game schedules and will compete against other high schools in Florida.

The varsity players have a district home game at 6 p.m. this Thursday, March 21. against Palmetto. Although it isn’t a district game, JV will also play Palmetto starting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Senior Spencer Mauk describes her passion for the sport.

“I absolutely love flag football, I’ve been playing ever since I was 5 and have loved it ever since,” she said. “It’s a great feeling being able to play this sport and compete with such a fun group of people.”

She also added, “I always look forward to games and practices because it’s always so fun being with the team. Together we grow and get stronger and that’s probably the best part of flag football.”
