(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Tuesday night saw another win for the LRHS varsity softball team as they advance to #1 in the state and fifth in the nation according to MaxPreps. The team is currently undefeated at 6-0.

Tuesday the Mustangs defeated Manatee 8-0.  Junior Kali Reis went 2 for 2 scoring two runs. Junior Avery Goelz batting 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Junior McKenzie Clark went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Junior Taylor Woodring batting 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored.

Winning pitchers were Senior Kayla Howald, allowing only 4 hits with 9 strikeouts and no walks, Relief pitcher junior Rachel Monroe finished the shutout.

“It felt good to come in and shut down the game. Knowing my teammates were right behind me, I felt like I had no worries,” said Monroe.

The next game is scheduled for Thursday, Mar. 14. The Mustangs will travel to George Jenkins High School at 7:00 p.m.
