Mustang baseball is off to an undefeated start.

So far, Lakewood Ranch has defeated Barron Collier, Sarasota, and Saint Petersburg on the road, as well as an additional home win against Sarasota.

Senior Grant McCray is excited about the hot start. “We’ve been playing our own game,” said McCray. “When we focus and play smart, we control the game. That is going to be important for us moving forward.”

Coming off a 2-0 win against the Green Devils of Saint Petersburg High, the Mustangs look to stay hot when they face Palmetto High School Tuesday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Lakewood Ranch is 6-2 in their last eight meetings with the Tigers, whose record stands at 2-2 this year.

“I am very proud of the way these guys have started the season,” said head coach Ryan Kennedy. “We are very talented this year and I think we have potential to do something big. The road to bringing a State Championship trophy back to Lakewood Ranch starts right here.”
