(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The annual LRHS College and Career Fair was held Monday and hundreds of Mustangs had the opportunity to talk to over 30 colleges and professional programs.

In the LRHS gym, students could learn about local colleges, such as State College of Florida (SCF), and out-of-state universities like Auburn. At each booth students were able to learn about each program and the classes/majors they have to offer.

In addition to universities, there were also different jobs and military opportunities available for the students who don’t plan to attend college.

There was also a variety of scholarships and different ways to finance school. One was the Starbucks Achievement Plan at Arizona State University. The Achievement Plan offers to pay full tuition at Arizona State for any Starbucks employee working 20 hours a week.

An Arizona Alumni described the scholarship, “Our plan helps employees launch their college careers, unlike other programs we don’t hold employees accountable for working at Starbucks after college, in fact there are over 60 degrees to choose from at Arizona such as medical and theater.”

Junior Nicolette Ngov enjoyed the College and Career fair, “I always look forward to this event, but it was especially helpful this year since I’m only a couple of months away from applying. It really helps me explore my options and ask questions to schools that I’m not able to visit like Penn State. They also had other booths that I found really helpful like the scholarships table, there was a bunch of different applications to choose from which was nice since college tuition and fees are so expensive.”
