Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS cheerleading tryouts for next year are right around the corner. Tryouts are scheduled for 4:30- 6:30 p.m. March 11-14 and all athletes must attend every day.

Cheer coach Kiana Broadbridge said, “All athletes have to earn their spot on a squad and should work on sharp motions, tumbling, and stunting skills. Varsity is looking for standing tucks, stunting experience, and sharp motions. JV is looking for back handsprings, spirit, and clean motions.”

Incoming freshman and any girls who want to try out should come to a parent meeting in the cafeteria. They will be going over important dates, rules, and expectations for the upcoming season.  The next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday.  The first meeting was Thursday and over 80 girls attended.

Athletes will need an updated physical, school insurance, Grade Point Average (GPA) report, disciplinary report, and a school consent form.

Incoming freshman Hayley Pollard said, “This being my first year of high school cheer, I’m pretty nervous because I don’t know what to expect, but I’m also really excited. I can’t wait to meet new people and have a super fun season.”

Sophomore Tammy Sinn said she is excited to try out again.

“The last two years I’ve done cheer have been great” she said. “I’m looking forward to seeing how this upcoming season turns out with some of the new girls trying out.”
