Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Lakewood Rach Mustangs boys lacrosse team had a big 17-5 win on Thursday, moving their record to 3-1 this season.

The Mustangs played the Sarasota Military Academy (SMA) Eagles for a home non-conference game.

Originally, the game was scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2, but was moved due to the weather.

The Mustangs held a lead the entire game, with goals from sophomore defenseman Jacob Wolf, sophomore attackman Clay Barone, and junior midfielder Gavin Goeden.

Due to the Mustangs’ success, it gave less experienced players the opportunity for playing time.

There were 35 players dressed for the game rather than the usual 24.

“It was a fun game,” said senior defenseman Josh Rossi. “It was great getting our lesser experienced players in the game to further develop them.”

The Mustangs play SMA back-to-back and faceoff again for their next away game at 7 p.m. on March 5.
