Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Wednesday night the LRHS varsity baseball team was scheduled to play Berkeley Preparatory School. Unfortunately, the game was cancelled due to inclement weather. This game is yet to be rescheduled.

Lakewood Ranch’s first game will now be Friday, March 1, when the Mustangs travel to Naples to face Barron Collier High School. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Head coach Ryan Kennedy is excited for the season to start. “I know all of the guys are itching to get out there and start playing some games,” Kennedy said. “We have been going hard the past few weeks to prepare for the first game.”

The Mustangs went 1-1 in preseason, defeating Riverview High School 2-1 and falling to Lennard High School 6-3. Both games were played at Lakewood Ranch.

Senior Joshua Lundy said, “I am confident that we can make a run at a State Championship. We just have to stay focused and keep working hard.”

Lakewood Ranch is looking to capture their second consecutive district title and first state title since 2003.
