(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS dean Kent Ringquist will assume the position of athletic director.

LRHS dean Kent Ringquist looks forward to his new athletic director duties.

As athletic director, Ringquist will oversee all sports activities at LRHS. He is responsible for coaches, budgets, community outreach, and supporting the school and student athletes.

Ringquist began working at LRHS in Aug. 2004, he added, “I have been working at the school for a period of time and I have always enjoyed working with the students and athletes.”

From then he has gained experience that has tailored him for the job as athletic director.

“Before working at the school I worked in business and sales, giving me a lot of financial background, which will help with budgeting as athletic director,” explained Ringquist. “Once at the school, I worked as a physical education coach, coaching football for 14 years, basketball for eight years, and track for six.”

Ringquist has set goals and is determined to meet them, “I want to have the school recognized in the community. I want people to know that we not only have students that are extremely academic, but also athletic,” stated Ringquist. “It is so important the students are recognized as well as the coaches.”

Ringquist is taking over the position as athletic director from Shawn Trent, who has got a job elsewhere in the district.
