(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS color guard and jazz bands 1 and 2 racked up more than 30 superior ratings last Friday and Saturday at Braden River High School.

On Friday, jazz 2 earned a straight Superior rating for the first time in 15 years, and jazz 1 had an outstanding performance and earned an Excellent rating.

Sophomore Cole Nash was happy for a successful MPA. “We put a lot of hard work and it paid off with the first superior Jazz 2 has gotten in a while,” said Nash.

On Saturday, solo and ensemble had 30 solos, four duets, two trios, one quartet, one sextet and one flute choir each earning Superior, Excellent and Good ratings.

Senior Lily Sutton is very proud of color guard and everyone’s hard work. “I feel like my last set of performances at districts went really, and I’m proud to be bringing three solos to states,” Sutton said, “and more people than ever are bringing guard solos to state, and it’s very exciting.”

The Wind Symphony and Symphonic Winds groups will perform at North Port High School March 8 for their concert Musical Performance Assessment (MPA). Both bands and the Nolan Middle school band will perform at 7:00 p.m. on Feb. 26 for a pre-MPA concert in the auditorium.
