(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Saturday morning, Feb. 9 the LRHS varsity cheer team traveled to Orlando, FL for the national cheerleading championship.

The top seven teams moved onto finals. They placed 11th out of 13 teams.

The Mustangs’ performance was the culmination of months of work, practice and performances.

Freshman Charlize Ucciferri said, “When the music started, we all went on auto-pilot. It was all muscle memory and you didn’t have to think about doing anything. During the cheer, all of our stunts hit, and we were pretty loud. When we got off the mat, we were pretty happy about our performance.”

Sophomore Kaila Amato said, “I’m happy with how the season turned out. We all tried our best and worked as a team. I had a great time and I can’t wait for next season.”

Sophomore Emma Wilson said, “I think that we had a great year because everyone had fun while putting in the work.”
