(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS winter guard and indoor percussion excelled last Saturday at the Plant City High School Regional competition.

Indoor percussion won first place with a score of 74.25 while winter guard received second place with a score of 59.66. Both teams are proud of their hard work this past week and are hoping for a good score for Musical Performance Assessment (MPA) on Feb. 16.

“In the past week, winter guard has moved up 11 points since the last competition,” said junior Kenzie Horner, “So I hope we can boost the score even higher for MPA by practicing even more this week.”

Sophomore Alexa Bland was very excited to place first, after indoor percussion’s promotion last week to Class A Division. “Our group has been showing a lot of progress, and it’s shown us what we can achieve higher than we thought before,” Bland said.

Both groups, including soloists and group pieces created by the students themselves, will be performing on Feb. 16 at Braden River High School. Performances include color guard solos and group pieces, woodwind solos and group pieces, percussion solos and duets, and brass solos and quartets.
