(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS’s boys varsity soccer team had a successful week, winning both their regional quarter finals and regional semi-finals.

The Mustangs won on Saturday night in their regional semi-finals against Wiregrass Ranch High School. The game was very close with a final score of 1-0. Freeman scored the goal for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs won their regional quarter-finals Wednesday night against Steinbrenner High School 2-1. Seniors Travis Freeman and Wilmer Yanes scored for the Mustangs. In the second half Steinbrenner scored on a penalty kick.

Freeman said, “The game was a very hard fight and it really was a battle for all 80 minutes.  It came down to one chance and it fell to my foot. As soon as I struck the ball, I could feel it was going in.  Obviously, it was a great feeling to score in that big of a game and to hear the fans cheering for us.”

The regional final is scheduled for be at 7 p.m. this Wednesday at Winter Park High School. Freeman added that he hopes they can win the game and advance to the state semi-finals.
