Girls advance in district soccer tournament

Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS girls soccer team won 8-0 against the Sarasota Sailors on Monday night.

The match was the district semi-final for the girls and they will advance to play on Wednesday against the Manatee Hurricanes.

Junior Josie Curtis had a hat trick in the game, scoring three goals. Senior Hajar Benjoud also scored two goals, sophomore Jordan Golden finished with a header, senior Lindsey Benedetto scored one goal, and freshman Reagan Gross scored the final goal of the game.

The Mustangs’ next game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30 against the Manatee Hurricanes at home.

The Mustangs look forward to playing against the Hurricanes. Senior Brenna Rademaker said, “I am so excited to be moving forward onto the second round of districts. I have high hopes for us continuing throughout the rest of districts.”
