Sienna Rodriguez – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The third LRHS blood drive of the year is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31. Students will able to sign up for the blood drive during their lunch period starting Monday.
As usual, students will be assigned a time that they can donate in the gym. It is a great opportunity for students to help people in need.
According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, almost five million Americans need a blood transfusion each year. Blood transfusions are very common and donating blood could possibly help save a life.
Participants will fill out a medical questionnaire and go through a standard wellness checkup. Students also must be at least 16 years old to donate with parental consent. There are also some eligibility criteria that students will have to review before they sign up.
LRHS blood drive committee president, junior Claudia Estevez, is excited for this upcoming blood drive.
“It is great for students to give back to their community and to really have an impact on someone’s life,” she said. “Everyone should definitely try to donate.”
