(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS theater 3 and 4 classes went on a field trip Wednesday to see the play “The Crucible” at the Asolo Repertory Theatre.

“The Crucible” was written by American playwright Arthur Miller in 1953. It is mainly based on the 1692 Salem witch trials in Massachusetts. This play is also read by LRHS American Literature classes.

The field trip was an opportunity for students to experience how other local theatre productions do certain things.

Junior Kenna Agnew enjoyed the production.

“’The Crucible’ in particular, is a theatrical classic that I believe anyone who’s interested in theatre should know about,” she said. “I loved this trip! It was especially funny because instead of taking a school or charter bus, we carpooled!”

The class did a small workshop about the Salem Witch Trials beforehand and many students thought it brought a better understanding to the play.
