clubs(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS Students for Safety (SFS) is hosting a guest speaker seminar from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 25 in room 564.

The guest speaker is Manatee Sheriffs Dept. Russell Younger, who focuses on crime prevention. Younger will discuss how to prevent a possible school shooting, signs of possible danger anyone can identify, and how to stay safe during a school shooting. He will also touch upon how officers would respond to such an event.

Club member, sophomore Jenelle Bayor believes the guest speaker will benefit many students.
“It will teach students different ways to identify the situation and will provide information on things I should know to do and say in a school shooting, or when dealing with dangerous warning signs.”

SFS members will receive one service hour if they attend the event. Other students are encouraged to attend, as it is guaranteed that this seminar will prepare a student for such a tragedy as a school shooting.
