NEWS(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS winter guard performed their 2019 show this past Saturday at Gaither High School in Tampa.  The team placed first place in their division with a score of 46.23 and fourth place overall in the competition.

Performing to a mashup of “Bottom of the River” by Lana del Ray and “River” by Bishop Briggs, guard members are proud of their accomplishment and hope to grow from here.

“Competitions are much more relaxed, and it’s all about cheering on other guards,” said junior Kenzie Horner, “Placing first at the first competition really boosted our confidence.”

Junior Maddie Stone was happy to try something new since marching band season. “This season focuses on the color guard, and it allows us to improve our skills on equipment,” she said.

The winter guard’s next competition is on Feb. 2 at Braden River High School.
