(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS has numerous teachers who know what it’s like to be on the other side of the desk. They were students here themselves.
LRHS English teachers Ryan Kennedy and Sejal Desai both went to LRHS. Kennedy enjoyed his time at LRHS as both a student and an athlete.
“I enjoyed every minute of my time. I originally was accepted to Manatee High through School Choice. I made a last-minute change of heart and wanted to go back to where I was zoned,” said Kennedy.
He also added, “Thankfully I did because I made great memories here as a student-athlete. I was blessed to be a part of the 2001 football district champion team and 2003 state championship baseball team.”
Kennedy also noted that the school was painted a beige color and even had a few teachers that are still here now.
“There are a few teachers I remember. From what I remember, both DeLazzers were at the school. I had Mrs. DeLazzer for English and she was awesome. Mr. (Larry) Hickman was my science teacher one year. I also had (outgoing principal) Mr. (Craig) Little as a physical education teacher,” said Kennedy.
Desai also enjoyed her time at LRHS, participating in various clubs and activities. She has also noticed some of LRHS’s changes throughout the years, “The structure of the school has definitely aged.”
She enjoyed the traditions at LRHS such as the athletic games, pep rallies, and spirit week. While Desai was a Mustang her teachers included journalism and history teacher Thomas Honsa, business teacher Bobbi Colson and math teacher Macie French..
