Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Cheerleaders won Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) regional championship Friday night at Plant City High School, in Plant City. With this victory, they now qualify to go to state finals at the end of the month.

LRHS cheer head coach Kianna Broadbridge was extremely proud of the outcome.

“This was the first year in a while that we have gotten first place, which will take us straight to finals,” she said. “This will also be the first year in LRHS history, that our varsity cheerleading team will compete at nationals.”

All Florida high schools are eligible to compete and can declare at the beginning of the season who will be part of the competition team.

Senior Ella Broussard said the performance was a great portrayal of LRHS and the motivation and determination of the LRHS cheer team.

“We had a bunch of girls out due to sickness and injury, which caused a lot of last-minute changes,” she said. “Despite all of the changes we still competed really well.”

Junior Katelyn Wilhoit stated, “It was stressful with all of the changes, but we were able to pull it all together. I’m glad we were able to represent LRHS in the best way that we could, showcasing all of our talents and hard work.”

The LRHS cheerleaders ended with a score of 71.1, winning first place.
