NEWS(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS color guard prepares for a 2019 winter guard season that is just around the corner.

The premiere date for winter guard is Jan. 19, but the color guard has been practicing since December.

“We dedicate so many hours to learning drill, choreography, and raising the performance level that we have to start early,” said junior Cassidy Ditsworth.

The group is excited for a new show after marching season.

“We are looking forward to a new theme and are happy to step back on the floor from a second place win last winter guard season,” junior Kenzie Horner said.

This year they are hoping for first place and know they will have to work hard.

“This is my first year, but I feel like pushing ourselves will help us achieve our goal,” said junior Maddie Stone.

The winter guard show premiere will be held in Tampa’s Gaither High School.
