NEWS(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS chorus students traveled to Disney’s Epcot last weekend to perform with celebrity Whoopi Goldberg, in one of Disney’s biggest shows, the Candlelight Processional.

The Candlelight Processional includes chorus groups from a variety of schools singing different songs while a celebrity narrator tells holiday stories. The songs were given to the students beforehand for practice.

In order to be a part of the program, LRHS needed to record and send in an audition tape. LRHS was chosen and this was their fourth year participating in the show.

In response to the show, chorus teacher Giselle Panagiotakis said, “It went really well, and the weather was nice and cool. The students also sounded wonderful, like a professional choir.”

Senior Cameron Auker also participated in the processional. She said, “This was my second year going and it’s such an amazing experience. To perform in front of people you know have traveled so far and then see the joy on their faces leaves you with such a good feeling.”

Senior Anthony Soper said, “It was a really great way to help participate in the school. I had fun being with my friends doing something that I love.  As a senior I will always remember this trip and I hope years in the future are able to experience this as well.”

LRHS also plans to carol in the halls during second and seventh period this Thursday and Friday, Dec. 13 and 14. Classes that wish to participate in the classroom caroling should contact Panagiotakis.
