Gavin Laielli – Mustangs Ahead

Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- After the cross-country season came to an end on Nov. 23, LRHS sent three athletes to race at the Foot Locker South Regional in North Carolina.

The race conditions were less than ideal, with cold and rainy weather along with a muddy course presenting numerous challenges not familiar to Florida runners.

Senior Johnny Reid, junior Mason Ingallinera, and sophomore Gavin Laielli all competed in different races to reach new heights.

Reid finished with a time of 16:00, placing 41st out of 303 in the Championship Race, while Ingallinera placed 20th out of 99 with a time of 20:13 in the Junior Race.

Reid has high hopes for the upcoming track season and is committed to Dartmouth College to further his academic and running careers.

Cross-country coach Kristen Wikstrom said, “Despite the conditions, my athletes performed very well. We had a great season overall and I am looking forward to next season.”

With track and field season approaching, there will be a meeting in the cafeteria on Dec. 12 to provide information.
