Madison Aker – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS will meet the finalists to take over for Principal Craig Little on Wednesday, Dec. 12.
School district officials plan to announce the three names next week. A community forum is scheduled for 6 –8 p.m. so teachers and community members can meet the candidates.
Little has been Principal of LRHS since 2014. He is leaving the post to open a new high school in Parrish next year.
“It’s really bittersweet for me to leave Lakewood because I’ve been here for a majority of my career,
said Little, who also served as a teacher and assistant principal at LRHS. “To me, this is a once in a career opportunity. I’ll be able to build the school from the ground up and establish a culture there.”
Little said meeting the finalists can be a valuable experience for Mustangs.
“It gives students, faculty and community stake-holders a chance to provide input in the process,” he said. “Hopefully there will be a good turnout and the finalists will be able to answer people’s questions.
LRHS senior Hannah Kennelly is one student who hopes the leadership transition goes smoothly for the school.
“(Mr. Little) has been the Principal ever since I have gone to LRHS and I am very grateful for what the school has achieved since he has been the Principal. I am happy for his opportunity to run a new school, but I am upset to see him go,” she said.
