(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Concert season has arrived for LRHS musicians.  Over the next month there will be over eight concerts for different LRHS musicians.

Both LRHS Jazz 1 and 2 will be showcased in concert and a festival competition this week, performing from 6-7 p.m., Dec. 6 at University Town Center Mall and playing the “Young Lions” jazz festival on Saturday, Dec. 8. Entry to both is free of charge.

The “Young Lions” jazz festival will be held at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida.

Junior Audrey Dixon stated, “I’m excited for the upcoming concerts and I think we’re performing well and learn from all of our shows.”

LRHS Chorus will hold a concert this week at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 at LRHS.

Chorus is also traveling to Walt Disney World this Sunday to perform in the Candlelight Processional with other groups from around the world.

The Candlelight Processional will be narrated by American actress Whoopi Goldberg.

“Disney is going to be great,” said senior Ethan Rossi. “I’m excited for this almost as much as [traveling to Tennessee to perform].”

LRHS Chorus will travel to Tennessee in April.

Lakewood Ranch Theatre also has a showcase this Saturday, Dec. 8 at University Town Center Mall. The showcase will contain snippets of upcoming songs, dances, and acting pieces the thespians are working on.

Also coming up is the PRISM Concert on Thursday, Dec. 13 hosted at LRHS. LRHS band director Ron Lambert said it is called a PRISM concert because it features every facet of the band program; all classes and after-school programs participate.

Admission to the PRISM concert is $5.  It’s a fundraiser for the band. It is the only show with an admission price all year.

On Friday, Dec. 21, the LRHS Jazz Band and Drumline will perform at the Jingle Bell Run on Lakewood Ranch Main Street.
