When a new student starts at LRHS after the start of the school year, they are assigned a buddy. The buddies will help the new Mustangs, showing them where to go for their classes, lunch, and different locations around the school.

Buddy Club exists to make all new students’ lives easier, allowing them to become more comfortable in a big school, making friends, and get help from students for where to go for their classes.

This club is led by LRHS chemistry teacher Tammy Harper. She said, “Without this club, new students would have no clue what to do. They wouldn’t know their way around this school.”

Sophomore Reygan Stubler was a new student here from Arizona the first week of November.

Stubler said, “I would have had no idea where to go or where to sit at lunch without my buddy.”

She also added that LRHS was so big compared to any of the schools she previously went to.

“I was so nervous my first day,” she said, “but with the help of my buddy I was able to feel better about not getting lost, and it was easier for me to make friends.”

Junior Brianna Astman was a buddy last school year, and she said that her buddy, junior Ariana Otero, is now one of her best friends.

Astman said, “I probably wouldn’t have met her if this club wasn’t a thing! Without her help, I still wouldn’t know my way around this school!”

Astman moved here from Texas, and she didn’t know anyone at the school. Buddy club helped her find her way around the school and make her first friend.
