key club logo(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS Key Club spent Thanksgiving break volunteering at two events for the community. The Florida Turkey Trot and the Manatee County food bank.

At the Florida Turkey Trot on Nov. 17, Key Club members helped runners check-in, they passed out water, and worked at the post-run activities booths. Volunteers earned four hours of community service at this event.

At the Manatee County food bank event on Nov. 19, there were three different shifts available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All the volunteers helped sort through different cans and boxes of food.

Due to an overflow of volunteers that signed up for the second shift, the Manatee county food bank event ended early. Since the members were able to finish sorting through all the food by 12 p.m., the third shift was cancelled.

Mustangs who want more information on Key Club events can attend one of the meetings, scheduled for every other Tuesday in room 509. Students can also visit the LRHS Key Club website, contact the Key Club president, senior Gabrielle Carroll at, or text (941)840-2849.
