Sienna Rodriguez – Mustangs Ahead

Sports(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS boys basketball team is doing all it can to welcome new fans.

On Nov. 14, the LRHS basketball teams held their third annual Mustang Madness pep rally. At this event fans have a chance to participate in contests, win prizes and support the Mustangs.

Many fans had the opportunity to participate in the event and the first 100 fans received a free t-shirt and slice of pizza. The event began with the teams being introduced and then the fan activities started.

There was a three-point contest won by junior Keon Buckley, who is on the boys’ varsity team. A six-year-old boy won the hot-shot contest against high school students and he received a $50 Nike gift card.

The other activities were a girls and boys scrimmage, a half court contest and a dunk contest won by senior Joshua Young, also on the boys’ varsity team.

Head LRHS boys basketball coach Jeremy Schiller said that was a fun time and it went as planned.

“The team was so excited to do this event and they can’t wait to start off the season,” he said. “It’s a special time for the team and hopefully the seniors can come back next year and watch because they will always be family.”
