Kara Smith – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The University of South Florida (USF) held its annual open house on Oct. 13. The open house is called “Stampede to Success” and is an all-day event that allows prospective students to learn about and explore the USF campus.
“Stampede for Success” showcases academic interests and scholarship opportunities. Students can take different tours based on personal interests.
Junior Amanda Hamende has been attending the event for the past three years. “From the minute I stepped on the USF campus, I felt like it was my home. Even after touring other colleges, I just keep going back to the school. My brother attends USF, and that is why I attended my first Stampede to Success, and I’ve gone every year since then.”
The open house displays the different fields and degrees the school offers. It also gives students an understanding of what life on the USF campus would be like.
Hamende also said, “Stampede for Success really helped me get an idea of what the campus was really like. All the people I met through this experience have been nothing but kind, and I can’t wait to go here one day.”
Junior Nicolette Ngov attended the open house for the first time, “This was one of my first college tours, and I was honestly a little nervous to go. But once I got there, I fell in love with the school. USF has a beautiful campus and I can see myself going there someday.”
