(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS swim team is going to states this Saturday in Stuart, FL. Four girls and two boys qualified for the FHSAA Class 4A Swimming and Diving State Championship Meet. Three girls and two boys qualified for individual events.

There will be around 70 teams competing in the state meet. Some of the senior swimmers will compete in this meet for the fourth year in a row.

On Nov. 3, the Regional meet was held in Clearwater, FL. All six Mustang relay teams qualified, along with individual qualifiers. Coach Julie Santiago said, “All six of our Mustang relays showed improvement from just a week ago. Several of our swimmers posted personal best times.”

Senior Sebastian Aguirre won the 2018 regional championship in the 100-yard butterfly. Other top finishes were freshman Dimiter Zafirov, placing third in the 500-yard freestyle, senior Keely Radloff, fourth in 200-yard freestyle, junior Emily Massengale, fifth in the 100-yard backstroke, and Aguirre, fourth in the 100-yard back.

Coach Kyle Steinberg and Santiago told their swimmers, “You should all be very proud of your accomplishments. We are so proud of all of you.”
