(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Last week LRHS hosted a successful blood drive. A total of 87 students and staff donated, saving around 261 lives. This was an amazing outcome for the blood drive committee.
Blood drive committee adviser Rebekah Lester said,” That is amazing! The turnaround is that fast and the need is constant. We encourage you to share the drive results…so they can celebrate their lifesaving efforts.”
The blood donated at the drive was transfused into patients within 48 to 72 hours.
President of the blood drive committee, junior Claudia Estevez, explained she was very happy with the amount of people who participated in the blood drive this year and pointed out that “Every two seconds, someone needs blood. “
LRHS’s blood drive committee allows students to get community service hours by gathering participants to draw blood and helping on the day of the blood drives.
For students interested in donating blood, the next blood drive will be held on Jan. 21.
