Chloe Nelson – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Marching Mustangs band took home straight superiors this Saturday at the Florida Marching Band Championships (FMBC) Musical Performance Assessment (MPA) competition at home.
They received superiors in music, visual, percussion, color guard, and general effect. This marked the third year in a row LRHS received straight superiors. Band director Ron Lambert was incredibly proud of the band and is ready to put the final touches on the show before finals in November. “Proud is an understatement,” Lambert said, “I’m hoping to add layers to the show and make it as clean as possible.
Junior Elise Sunderman is a third-year color guard member and is very happy about the results.
“I’ve had straight superiors since freshman year, and I would love to keep it going through my senior year,” said Sunderman.
Junior Maddie Stone is a first-year color guard member and is thrilled by her first MPA performance. “It was my best run of the season, and I think this competition demonstrated how far we’ve come as a band since July,” said Stone.
The Marching Mustangs will perform their halftime show after the game this Friday and are hosting the FMBC Music in Motion Regional Competition Saturday.
